Pardon my English!

**********************************************************************
Well, as they say, the world is a global village therefore, being English the commercial language used worldwide, it's easier to make "business" in Shakespeare's language than in Camões's one! ;)
My business is to improve my English so that I can make some use of what I have learned. I have studied the language for many years and I think my reading and listening comprehension skills are at a good level , but I have not that much speaking or writing practise.
So, here I am with the purpouse of improving my English skills because I'm fed up to listen to my 8 years old cousin saying that I'd be better of speaking portuguese... Ok, she's in fact british but I want to be able to order my Macmenu on my own! :)

TEDTALKS

I came across this video because I simple love "Lost" and always believe that the authors had to be 'wacko' to write such a story. Here it is the real proof that one of them, J.J.Abrams, is not an ordinary man... and this is just because he always try to IMAGINE what's inside of the MISTERY BOX.

This video took me to TED and it is a great site with lots of interesting talks covering all diferent themes and really worth of a visit.

Casa da Música in Oporto nominated for Building of 2007

Channel 4 is going to present the winner of the RIBA Stirling Prize 2007, but they also want to know which building the public likes best.
The Casa da Música in Oporto is on the Stirling Prize 2007 shortlist, along with America's Cup Building, Dresden Station Redevelopment, Museum of Modern Literature, Savill Building and Young Vic Theatre, and at the moment our cultural building is the one with most votes from the public.
We portuguese people really support what's ours ! Even if it wasn't design by a portuguese... :P

"Superstars" by David Fonseca

Why "My Fair Lady" when you can go with Witches!

Forget the famous line "The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain."

Here is the real deal:

"Three witches watch three Swatch watches. Which witch watch which Swatch watch."

Or even better:

"Three Swedish switched witches watch three Swiss Swatch watch switches. Which Swedish switched witch watch which Swiss Swatch watch switch?"

I'm no pilot but I must say that I really love the Dakar race, and I have been really proud that it has started here in Lisbon... and this year I too was really sad when I knew about the cancellation of the event! I can only imagine the loss of money, dreams and expectations that it is for the participants...
But I also have to say that you can make good humor out of it, like this shirt above. Instead of Lisboa-Dakar it says "CCB - M. Jerónimo"...the limits of the starting place, right here in Lisbon. This is in fact a collectors item! You can check it out at www.caozul.com

Lisbon: 2nd best place to visit in 2008 by the NYTimes!

"2 LISBON
Bargain-seeking tourists have long flocked to Lisbon, typically among the most affordable of European cities. But now the Portuguese capital is also emerging as a cultural force. The new Berardo Collection Museum (http://www.berardocollection.com/), in the historic Belem district, boasts a major trove of modern and contemporary art. Designer hotels like Fontana Park (http://www.fontanaparkhotel.com/) and Jerónimos 8 (http://www.almeidahotels.com/) are attracting style-savvy travelers. And the Design and Fashion Museum, scheduled to open in late 2008, will go a long way toward cementing the city's avant-garde status." in NYTimes Online
